KINETIC TYPE - DIRTY HARRY NEW! My first kinetic type project in After Effects using a scene from Dirty Harry starring Clint Eastwood.
"I know what you're thinking, punk. You're thinking, did he fire six shots or only five? Well to tell you the truth, I forgot myself in all this excitement. But being as this is a .44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world and will blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself a question: do I feel lucky? Well do ya, punk?"

DIRTY JERZ CLOTHING PROMO VIDEO
My first completed project in After Effects was this short animated ad for Dirty Jerz Clothing. The song used was "I Luv It" by Young Jeezy, currently it is not the edited version of the song. All images used were created myself inside Adobe Illustrator. Check out Dirty Jerz Clothing at www.dirtyjerzclothing.com.

LOOK
BOTH WAYS
An
early project from my days with video production, this is a 5-minute
video that we created from concept to finish in a 24-hour period.
Neil and I worked hard to pull off the still-motion effect in this
short, as I would press record and stop quickly as he would run into
the picture and move the shoes a couple inches.
Originally created for the 2003 Film Fest at Saline High School in
Saline, Michigan, it won some fans in the audience but we left without
any awards. The music was composed and recorded by Neil as he playing
his harmonica and arranged the music to the piece.

CAMPUS
SNOW: STUDY SESSION
This
20-minute-long snowboarding video was filmed entirely on the Grand
Valley State University Campus located in Allendale, Michigan in
the early months of 2005. Originally released to DVD, this video
features Brian FIsher and Erik Binggeser along with a few guest
appearances.
The soundtrack to this video contains something for everyone with
some rock, hip-hop, easy listening, and everything else in between.
Sit back and enjoy as Brian and Erik build all their own ramps, catch
some air, and try new tricks.

ROADSIDE
COLOR DOTS
An
early project from 2007, driving on country roads I experimented
with adding in simple shapes and objects to make them fly around
the scene. Some appear to go beyond the horizon and others just
float by near the camera. Accompanied with the song "Popcorn" by
Hot Butter.

SKATE
'N SKEDADDLE
Originally
an assignment from a 200-level media production course at Grand
Valley State University, JiL Szewski and I worked together to create
a story about a skateboarder.
The requirements involved a 45-second pattern of cuts every 5, 10,
and 15 frames, in a certain order. Thanks to Erik Binggeser for helping
out and as well as an officer from Grand Valley State University’s
Public Safety.
JiL and I shared the taping responsibilities and once that was completed,
we each had to edit our own version.

BEAUTIFUL
DAY
A
production from a 200-level video production course at Grand Valley
State University, this is a day in the life of two hitmen.
Produced by Justin, Brian, Kellen, and Josh, this video required
15 hours shooting on location, and took over 40 hours to edit.
This video tells the story of a day in the life of Vin and Warren
with a day on the job as they try to carry out an assignment but
happen to get into a bit of a dispute about taste in music.
Special thanks to Kyle Wallner, Chris Reed, and Michael Beach, we
were able to pull this off. STRONG LANGUAGE AND VIOLENCE.

WE
ARE SOLDIERS
What
began as a high school project for someone’s history class,
this became a 2-weekend project, complete with special effects.
This 20-minute video set in 1968, tells the story of a United States
troop fighting their way through Vietnamese Forces.
Filming duties were split up between a couple of the people in the
video, as I was only able to attend one of the days of shooting it.
Later, I got the footage and I spent close to 20 hours editing it
in the following week.

and finally edited and put together in September of 2006.

appears in the video.
The soundtrack features music by Beck, The Gorillaz, Gnarls Barkley,
and The Streets.

WAITING
On
a mild autumn day in Saline, Michigan, is there anything better
to do than to visit an ice rink, borrow a truckload or two of ice
from the zamboni, and create a snowboard ramp?
That is exactly what we did at Mill Pond on that afternoon with snowshovels
in one hand and our boards in the other.
This 5-minute snowboarding video features Neil Atzinger, Carter Bishop,
Brian Fisher, Kevin Fisher, Jim Hart, Adam Nicola-Iott, and Alex
Nicola-Iott.

VAC-ATTACK
A
final project for a 100-level production course at Grand Valley
State University, this is what happens if you make a mess...
Thanks to Neil Atzinger for being the star of the video and adding
his own level of comedy to this lightly themed horror story. As he
sits on the couch enjoying a bowl of popcorn, he doesn’t realize
the mess he is making; but someone else does.
Another thanks to Cam Lands for helping out around the set to move
lighting and equipment.
You better be careful on that next bowl of popcorn...

THINK
DIFFERENT
A
short video completed using the Apple Comuter slogan, “Think
Different.”
This was a project for a 100-level course at Grand Valley State University
which required a story where the character grew or learned something.

and Alex Stransky for being the actors and actress in the video.

IDOLATRY
FORGIVEN
This
was a project for a 100-level course at Grand Valley State University,
called Image & Sound. The requirements involved linking two
events together that are normally not associated with each other.
Thanks to Brent Byington for the story and to Neil Atzinger for the
script. Another thank you to the actors, Erik Binggeser, Josh Barton,
Ben Waldron, and Jake Regal.

FISHING
INTERVIEW
This
is an interview style project completed for a production course
at Grand Valley State University that was completed in October
of 2004.
Along with two others, Matt Dressel and Adam Blunk, the three of
us followed Andrew Hickey as he spent a day in one of his favorite
spots to fish, the Grand River located in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Though there weren’t any big catches caught on tape, it is
still an interesting, behind the scenes look at what goes into a
day on the river.
A special thanks to Andrew Hickey and Joe Ferlito for helping out.

LET'S
BUILD A FORT!
Someone
says, “Let’s build a fort tonight!”
And.....
We did just that. Using every piece of furniture we could find in
our dorm lobbies that night, we were able to pull off quite the fort.
Pillows, blankets, lights, television, we had it all. Check it out.

FLY
My
first official project from college, one week into the semester,
this was an assignment that was supposed to be an “on-camera-edit” only.
That means it was to be taped in sequence and no effects added.
Using my footage after it was due in class, I added some music, cut
it up a little bit and made the best of what I had. My partner dropped
the class while we were making it so that didn’t help too much.
Thanks to Alex Stransky and Matt Butterfield for helping out and
being in the video.

STREET
LIGHTS
A
short video I worked on in June 2006. No major story information
on this one, simply a driving clip from Ann Arbor, Michigan.
I played around a little bit with editing the speed of the video
to match the song I used.
The original footage this was made from was about 22 minutes in length.
Enjoy.

HP
STYLE COMMERCIAL
Though
very technical to make, there isn’t much to this 8-second
clip. I was attempting to see if I could match the style that HP
used in 2004 and 2005 for their photo products.
It was fully taped, edited, and created in under 2-hours sitting
at my computer a couple years ago.

SONG
THAT DOESN'T END
Nothing but a short looping animation, learning Macromedia Flash and syncing
to music.
